Jans (pronounced TY-ler JANNS) has played the last three seasons with the Edmonton Riverhawks of the West Coast League – a collegiate summer league. The St. Albert, Alberta native played in 32 games, compiling a 3-3 record with a 2.68 earned run average and six saves. Jans has averaged 1.21 strikeouts per inning pitched and his strikeout to walk ratio is 3.39. After a season at Cloud County Community College (Concordia, Kansas) Jans attended the University of Louisiana Monroe (Monroe, Louisiana) from 2021 to 2022. WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes announced Monday that shortstop Andy Armstrong would be returning for a third season with the club. Armstrong hit .241 in 2024, with 14 doubles, two home runs, and 39 runs batted in. He committed just eight errors in 336 total chances for a fielding percentage of .976. The 27-year-old hit .261 for the Goldeyes in 2023, with 19 doubles and 32 RBIs. He also set an American Association single-season record with 23 sacrifice bunts. The native of Coos, Bay, Oregon was originally acquired via a trade with the Frontier League’s Evansville Otters on March 6, 2023. Armstrong spent the 2022 campaign with Evansville after making his professional debut with the Ogden Raptors of the Pioneer League in 2021. He has compiled a .250 batting average with six home runs and 123 RBIs over his first four seasons as a pro. Lynch (first name pronounced KEE-shawn) played in 69 games for the club in 2024, batting .203 with six doubles, one triple, two home runs, and 26 runs batted in. Defensively, he spent time at five different positions (second base, third base, shortstop, left field, and centre field), committing just two errors in 159 total chances. The 28-year-old played for Goldeyes manager Logan Watkins in 2023 with the Cleburne Railroaders. Lynch appeared in 17 games, hitting .212 with three runs batted in and 11 runs scored. Chosen in the 14th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks out of State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (Bradenton, Florida), Lynch spent three years in their system. The native of Lake Hamilton, Florida reached the Class-A level with the Kane County Cougars – then of the Midwest League – in 2019. Lynch has compiled a career .230 batting average with 43 doubles, six triples, six home runs, and 106 RBIs in 313 games. “Keshawn was everyone’s favourite guy on the team last season,” said Watkins. “He brings energy everyday and keeps the clubhouse atmosphere where it needs to be. Sierra was chosen by the New York Mets in the 28th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft out of Polyvalente Édouard-Montpetit (Montréal, Québec) but chose not to sign. He was listed as Baseball America magazine’s 12th best high school player in Canada that year. The 25-year-old was a member of the junior national team from 2015-17 and represented Canada at the 2017 U-18 Baseball World Cup in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Sierra went on to attend Chipola College (Marianna, Florida), Yavapai College (Prescott, Arizona), Washington State University (Pullman, Washington), and New Mexico State University (Las Cruces, New Mexico). Over the 2021 and 2022 seasons with Washington State, Sierra appeared in 27 contests – mostly in relief. He compiled a 3-2 record and a 5.60 earned-run-average with one save. The Montréal, Québec native will make his professional debut with the Goldeyes and would become the 77th Canadian to play for the club since its inception in 1994, and the sixth Quebecer. “Will is a young guy with a live arm,” said Goldeyes skipper Logan Watkins . “We were made aware of him after his performance at a Tread Athletics workout. WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes announced the re-signing Monday of catcher Kevin García . García saw action in 39 contests in 2024, hitting .188 with six doubles, one home run, and nine runs batted in. The 32-year-old rejoined the Goldeyes last year after spending the previous three seasons in the Mexican League with the Pericos de Puebla, the Acereros de Monclova, and the Aguila de Veracruz. García played 127 games for Winnipeg over the 2018 and 2019 seasons, combing for a .246 batting average with 18 doubles, five home runs, and 51 RBIs. His 2018 campaign was cut short by a knee injury suffered June 30 – at a time when he had thrown out a league-leading 50% of the baserunners attempting to steal against him. Hailing from Calexico, California, García was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 30th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft out of Loyola Marymount University (Los Angeles, California). He spent two seasons in the Blue Jays’ system before signing with the Minnesota Twins in 2016. In four seasons in the affiliated minors, García hit .250 with two home runs and 54 RBIs. Shortridge was chosen by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the fourth round of the 2018 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft out of the University of California, Berkeley (Berkeley, California). He played five seasons in their system, reaching the Class-AAA level on two occasions. The 27-year-old spent the majority of last season with the Class-AAA International League’s Indianapolis Indians, where he posted a 3-4 record with a 5.18 earned run average in 12 appearances. In 2023, Shortridge went 11-8 in 27 starts for the Class-AA Eastern League’s Altoona Curve, with a pair of complete games. The native of Santa Rosa, California has compiled a career record of 28-23 with a 4.07 ERA in 96 games (87 starts). Croes (pronounced KROOZ), was named the league’s Rookie Position Player of the Year following the 2023 season. He has represented the Goldeyes in the league’s All-Star Game in each of his two seasons as a professional. The native of Noord, Aruba hit a team-leading .342 in 2024, with 22 doubles, five home runs, and 51 runs batted in. He also led the Goldeyes with 128 hits. Defensively, Croes played 41 games at second base and 44 at the hot corner. He committed just six errors in 267 fielding chances. In 2023, the 25-year-old hit .351, good for fourth in the league, while his 135 hits were best in the 12-team-circuit. Croes has compiled a .347 career batting average with 118 RBIs in 187 career games.
