WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes lost 7-2 to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in an exhibition game at Shaw Park on Tuesday evening.
Tied at 2-2 in the top of the sixth, Drew Ward walked leading off, setting up a two-run home run to left from Leobaldo Pina that gave the RedHawks the lead for good.
Fargo-Moorhead opened a 7-2 lead in the top of the seventh on a two-out, three-run home run to right from Peter Maris.
Davis Feldman picked up the win in relief with three scoreless innings. Feldman struck out five and touched 96 mph on the Shaw Park radar gun.
Travis Seabrooke took the loss for Winnipeg.
The RedHawks took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third on a two-out, two-run double from Maris.
Winnipeg answered right back in the bottom of the third. Eric Rivera was hit by a pitch with one out and took third when Raul Navarro singled to right. Two batters later, Max Murphy ripped a two-run double into the left field corner that tied the game.
Freisis Adames started for the Goldeyes and took a no-decision, allowing two earned runs on five hits. Adames struck out seven and walked one.
Bret Helton started for the RedHawks and also took a no-decision, allowing two earned runs on three hits in three innings. Helton walked one and struck out two.
Luis Ramirez, Erasmo Pinales and Brendan Smith each worked a scoreless inning of relief for Winnipeg.
The Goldeyes and RedHawks conclude the 2022 exhibition schedule on Wednesday evening at Shaw Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
The Winnipeg Goldeyes open the 2022 season on Friday, May 13th versus the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at Shaw Park at 6:35 p.m.
