Goldeyes Clinch Playoff Berth, Split Double Header

FARGO, ND – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (50-42) split a double header with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at Newman Outdoor Field on Saturday night, winning the opener 14-7 and dropping the nightcap 9-3.

With the win in game one, the Goldeyes clinched a berth in the American Association playoffs.  It is the 20 th playoff berth in franchise history, the most of any team in independent baseball since the industry began in 1993.

In game one, the Goldeyes took a 4-0 lead in the top of the third.  Michael Crouse walked leading off and took second when Jacob Rhinesmith singled through the right side.  Two batters later, Kevin Lachance lined a single to right on a 1-2 count to load the bases.  With two outs, Raul Navarro grounded a single through the middle to score Crouse and Rhinesmith.  Ian Sagdal made it 4-0 with a two-run double to centre.

The RedHawks (61-31) closed within 4-3 in the bottom of the third.  Three straight singles from Sam Dexter, Evan Alexander, and Nick Novak loaded the bases with no outs.  Peter Maris and Manuel Boscan hit consecutive run-scoring groundballs, while Drew Ward hit a two-out, RBI single to centre.

Winnipeg answered back with three runs in the top of the fourth.  Walks to Lachance, Reggie Pruitt Jr. , and Navarro loaded the bases with one out.  Sagdal made it 5-3 with a groundout to first.  Max Murphy followed with a two-out, three-run home run off the batter’s eye in centre field.

The RedHawks pulled within 8-6 in the bottom of the fourth.  With first and third and no outs, Alexander reached on an RBI fielder’s choice that scored Ben Livorsi from third.  After Travis Seabrooke relieved Goldeyes’ starter Landen Bourassa , Alec Olund hit a pinch-hit single up the middle that led to a Goldeyes’ error that brought home Alexander.  Maris and Boscan then hit back-to-back singles to drive in Olund.

The Goldeyes re-extended the lead to 11-6 in the top of the sixth.  Murphy ripped a solo shot to left with one out.  David Washington walked, and scored on a single to right from Crouse that resulted in a throwing error by right fielder John Silviano.  Rhinesmith lined a single to left that scored Crouse.

With two outs and no one on base in the top of the seventh, a Navarro walk and a Sagdal single set up a three-run home run from Murphy that struck the video board in left-centre.  It was Murphy’s third home run of the game, marking the first three-homer performance by a Goldeyes’ player since Mason Katz on September 4 th , 2017.  Murphy finished the game with seven RBI.

Livorsi hit an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh to provide the game’s final margin before Tasker Strobel recorded the final outs to secure the win.

Paul Schwendel (2-3) picked up the win in relief for the Goldeyes after pitching a perfect bottom of the fifth.

RedHawks’ starter Davis Feldman (6-5) took the loss, allowing six earned runs on four hits in three and one-third innings.  Feldman walked four and struck out five.

Bourassa took a no-decision, allowing five earned runs on eight hits in three and one-third innings.  Bourassa walked none and struck out none.

In game two, the RedHawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a Ward RBI double and a Leobaldo Pina RBI single.

Fargo-Moorhead broke the game open with a six-run bottom of the fourth.  Boscan made it 3-0 with a fielder’s choice that scored Novak.  Pina drew a bases-loaded walk that forced home Christian Correa with the RedHawks’ fourth run.  John Silviano followed with a grand slam home run to left-centre.

Winnipeg scored three runs in the top of the third on a two-run home run from Navarro and a two-out, RBI single from Crouse.

The RedHawks scored the final run of the game in the bottom of the fourth on a Goldeyes’ error.

Peyton Wigginton (9-2) started for the RedHawks and picked up the win, allowing three earned runs on nine hits in six innings.  Wigginton walked one and struck out eight.

Goldeyes’ starter Alex Manasa (4-6) took the loss, allowing eight earned runs on seven hits in two innings.  Manasa walked five and struck out none.

Washington led off the top of the sixth with a single to left for the 1,000 th hit of his professional career.

WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes announced Wednesday the re-signing of right-handed starting pitcher James Bradwell . After signing with the Goldeyes July 8, Bradwell went on to start seven contests and posted a 1-3 record with a 4.61 earned run average. A native of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Bradwell spent four years with the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, British Columbia) before making his professional debut in 2021 with the Québec Capitales of the Frontier League. The 27-year-old played one year with the Capitales before joining the Trois-Rivières Aigles for two seasons. In 2024, he re-joined Québec and turned in a standout campaign that saw him go undefeated (12-0) with a 2.72 ERA. “Getting James back was big priority for us this off-season,” said Goldeyes field manager Logan Watkins . “He flashed stretches of dominance last season, and if he can get back fully healthy, I expect him to be one of the better starters in the entire league this year.” Winnipeg now has five players under contract for the 2026 season. Hailing from Meaford, Ontario, Dobie is the first Canadian player to sign with the Goldeyes for the 2026 season. The 23-year-old will make his professional debut this spring after spending the past four seasons with the University of Dayton (Dayton, Ohio). In 171 games, he posted a .288 batting average with 22 home runs and 115 runs batted in. He also spent one season with the Waterloo Bucks of the summer collegiate Northwoods League. In 30 games with the Bucks, he hit .250 with 12 RBIs. Splitting time between first base, third base, and the outfield, Dobie is a true utility player who can move just about anywhere on the diamond. “The biggest thing we like about him is that he plays multiple positions including catcher,” said Goldeyes field boss Logan Watkins . “I can tell you he's extremely excited and eager to be a member of the Goldeyes. Suárez, a native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, last pitched for the Tri-City Dust Devils, the High-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels. The 26-year-old spent four seasons from 2016 to 2019 in the Dominican Summer League with the DSL Giants, a rookie affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. In 2021, he was signed to the Giants organization and assigned to their Arizona Complex League affiliate. There, Suárez crossed paths and played with Goldeyes 2024 and 2025 catcher, Rob Emery . After spending one more season with the Giants, he was claimed off waivers by the Angels organization and proceeded to spend two seasons in their system, reaching as high as Double-A in 2023 with the Rocket City Trash Pandas. In his career, Suárez has compiled a 17-12 record with a 4.93 earned run average in 152 appearances. “We’re really excited to sign Willian to our team,” said Goldeyes skipper Logan Watkins . “He's a guy who has some solid affiliated experience, and from looking at video of him throwing recent bullpens, you can tell he has electric stuff. WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes Field of Dreams Foundation is accepting funding requests from registered children’s charities in Manitoba, beginning Monday, November 17 through Monday, December 15 for monies generated during the 2025 American Association season. Funds raised during the 2025 season are available to registered children’s charities within Manitoba. All requests must be submitted online via the application below , and should include the nature of the organization, the specific amount being requested, and the intended use of funds. Since its inception in 1995, the Winnipeg Goldeyes Field of Dreams Foundation has raised and distributed more than $3.5 million to children’s charities in Manitoba. Revenue sources include the Field of Dreams Foundation annual golf tournament, fan donations, the Fillmore Riley LLP Ks for Kids program, the Sonia’s Stand Radar Pitching Booth, memorabilia auctions, and the sale of PlayNow 50/50 tickets during home games at Blue Cross Park. WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes announced Monday the signing of right-handed relief pitcher James Colyer . The native of Hayward, California made his professional debut with the Oakland Ballers of the Pioneer League in 2025, appearing in 36 games. He was 3-0 with a 3.77 earned run average while also earning two saves. He transferred to California State University, East Bay (Hayward, California) for the 2023 season after one season at Shorter University (Rome, Georgia). In 37 appearances (one start) over two college seasons, Colyer posted a 4-1 record with a 3.73 ERA. WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes announced Wednesday the signing of right-handed pitcher Noah Millikan. Millikan made his professional debut in 2025 with the Oakland Ballers of the Pioneer League, where he started 14 contests. He compiled an impressive 7-1 record in what is considered a hitter-friendly circuit. He finished third-best in the league with a 2.12 earned run average, while also ranking seventh in strikeouts with 96, despite starting just 14 games. The 22-year-old played his college career with the University of Pennsylvania, while also spending three seasons playing in the California and New York collegiate summer leagues. In his four years at Penn, Millikan appeared in 29 games, starting 14. In summer collegiate action, he appeared in 23 games, starting six. He compiled a 3-3 record with a 4.47 ERA. “We’re thrilled to have Noah as our first signing for the 2026 season,” said manager Logan Watkins. “He’s coming off a great year with Oakland and has proven he’s ready to make the jump to the American Association. The biggest thing we like about him is his ability to throw strikes and have solid strikeout numbers. WINNIPEG, MB – Baseball Canada named their roster for the upcoming WBSC Copa América Tuesday. The tournament will take place from November 13-17 in La Chorrera, Panama. The Copa América consists of 12 nations across two groups. Canada will play in Group B with host Panama, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Brazil and Argentina, seeking to become one of the four nations to earn a berth in the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. The announced roster consists of several players from the 2025 Goldeyes’ squad. Relief pitcher and Winnipeg native Ben Onyshko along with starting pitcher Landen Bourassa headline the recent members of the team on the Canadian pitching staff, while first baseman Matthew Warkentin and outfielder Jacob Robson represent the team in the field and at the plate. The roster also features the likes of four players who suited up for Winnipeg in the past, including Evan Grills (2020), Brandon Marklund (2023), Evan Rutckyj (2017), and Nick Trogrlic-Iverson (2024). Canada’s tournament begins November 13 against host nation, Panama. Prior to the tournament, the team will host a three-day training camp in Dunedin, Florida at the Toronto Blue Jays’ Player Development Complex from November 7-10. Group A for the WBSC Copa América consists of nations already qualified for the 2027 games, and features Cuba, Curaçao, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Nicaragua and Venezuela. WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes, in conjunction with Nostalgia Broadcasting Cooperative, announced Monday that they have extended their radio partnership through the 2026 American Association season. CJNU 93.7 FM will broadcast all Goldeyes pre-season, regular season, and potential post-season games with Trevor Curl handling the play-by-play duties. The upcoming campaign marks the 11th year of the partnership. Each Goldeyes radio broadcast commences with a 30-minute pre-game show and concludes with a 30-minute post-game show. Additionally, the “Inside Pitch” off-season radio show returns in 2026. WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes announced their 2026 regular season schedule Tuesday. The American Association again plays a continuous 100-game slate and retains the East/West divisional format introduced in 2022. 2026 Winnipeg Goldeyes Schedule Winnipeg opens the season Friday, May 15 on the road to face the Milwaukee Milkmen. The Goldeyes’ home opener is Tuesday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. vs. the Kane County Cougars, featuring a Goldeyes jersey giveaway and fireworks. The home opener marks the first of seven spectacular fireworks displays during the 2026 home schedule. Blue Cross Park hosts 50 home games, including nine weekends. Standard home start times are 6:30 p.m. (Mon–Thu), 7:00 p.m. (Fri), 6:00 p.m. (Sat), and 1:00 p.m. (Sun). Exceptions include weekday matinees on Thursday, May 21 vs. Kane County and Wednesday, June 3 vs. the Sioux Falls Canaries, both with 11:00 a.m. first pitches. Winnipeg will again be home on Canada Day —Wednesday, July 1 vs. the Kansas City Monarchs—with a 4:00 p.m. start. Photo Credit: Rian García/Boise Hawks WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes announced Friday the acquisition of outfielder Max Jung-Goldberg . Jung-Goldberg was acquired from the Boise Hawks of the Pioneer League in exchange for cash considerations. The 25-year-old hit .361 for the Hawks last season, with 26 home runs and was tied for the league lead in RBIs with 130. A native of Redwood City, California, Jung-Goldberg played four years at the University of San Diego before playing one season at Hope International University. During his collegiate career, he hit .306 with 11 home runs and 72 RBI in 137 games. He also spent two summers playing in Collegiate Summer leagues, with a season each in the Prospect League (2019) and Northwoods League (2021) where he hit .345 in 104 games. Jung-Goldberg began his professional career with the Hawks in 2024, playing 64 games and hitting .247 with two home runs. He will be suiting up for the Karachi Monarchs of Baseball United this winter.
