WINNIPEG, MB – Roby Enríquez played hero for the Winnipeg Goldeyes (18-20) Saturday night, lining an infield single in the bottom of the tenth inning to defeat the Sioux City Explorers (25-15) 4-3 at Blue Cross Park. Boxscore Sioux City opened the scoring in the top of the third when Zac Vooletich lined an RBI single to left to plate Henry George and give the visitors a 1-0 lead. The Goldeyes responded quickly in the bottom half, as Jacob Robson launched the first pitch of the inning to right–centre to tie the game at 1-1. Gustavo Sosa later came home on a wild pitch for a 2-1 Winnipeg advantage, and Matthew Warkentin added an RBI single to stretch the lead to 3-1. Vooletich brought the Explorers closer with another RBI single in the fifth, and Austin Davis tied the contest in the sixth with a solo shot that made it 3-3. The game remained knotted until the tenth, when Enríquez lined a sharp infield single that brought Keshawn Lynch across the plate for the win. Goldeyes starter Jesse Galindo received a no–decision after working 4.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits with five walks and four strikeouts. Sioux City starter Jared Weatherbee also earned a no–decision, yielding three runs on five hits and recording ten strikeouts across six innings. Ryder Yakel pitched 1.1 innings in relief, allowing one run on two hits, while Ben Onyshko kept the tie intact with two scoreless innings and two strikeouts. Trevor Brigden (W, 2-2) picked up the win with two innings of work and two strikeouts. For the Explorers, Chase Jessee (L, 3-1) suffered his first loss of the season after tossing 3.2 innings and yielding an unearned run on one hit, two walks, and four strikeouts. The series and the homestand concludes Sunday afternoon with a 1:00 p.m. CDT rubber match. WINNIPEG, MB – The first‑place Sioux City Explorers (25‑14) came into Blue Cross Park Friday evening and blanked the Winnipeg Goldeyes (17‑20) by a score of 8‑0. Boxscore Sioux City jumped on the board in the top of the first inning when Abdiel Layer’s sacrifice fly to centre brought home Henry George for a 1‑0 lead. Zach Vooletich added another run moments later, crossing the plate on a double steal to put the Explorers up 2‑0. The visitors extended the lead to 3‑0 in the top of the fifth when Joshua Day singled to plate a run. The floodgates opened in the sixth as Sioux City batted around and added five more runs. D’Shawn Knowles started the frame with a leadoff home run. Nick Shumpert followed with an RBI single, and Day delivered a two‑run single that brought home Torin Montgomery and Austin Davis. Henry George capped the scoring with an RBI fielder’s choice for an 8‑0 advantage. Explorers starter Zach Willeman (4‑2) was dominant, carrying a perfect game into the sixth and a no‑hit bid into the seventh. He finished with one hit allowed over seven innings, issuing three walks and striking out seven. The Sioux City bullpen combined for the final two innings, allowing just three walks and two hits. Ben DeTaeye worked a third of an inning, Nate Gercken escaped the eighth with a double‑play ball, and J.D. Scholten closed out the win despite allowing a pair of hits. Luke Boyd (1‑3) was charged with the loss for Winnipeg, yielding eight runs (all earned) on six hits across 5.1 innings. The Goldeyes’ bullpen kept the Explorers off the scoreboard the rest of the way, with Derrick Cherry delivering 2.2 innings of one‑hit, three‑strikeout relief and Tasker Strobel working a clean ninth with one strikeout. WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (17-19) delivered a thrilling comeback Thursday evening at Blue Cross Park, defeating the Sioux Falls Canaries (20-17) 8-7 to claim their third consecutive series victory. Boxscore The Goldeyes got on the board early when Matthew Warkentin ’s RBI single brought home Ramón Bramasco in the bottom of the first. Sioux Falls responded in the third, plating four runs to take a 4-1 lead. Calvin Estrada’s RBI double tied the game, and Matt Ruiz followed with a three-run homer to left-centre. Winnipeg answered swiftly. In the home half of the third, Tanner O’Tremba launched a three-run shot over the left-centre field wall, scoring Roby Enríquez and Max Murphy to tie the game 4-4. The Canaries regained the lead on solo home runs—one from Josh Rehwaldt in the fifth and another from Scott Combs in the sixth—to make it 6-4. The Goldeyes clawed back in the seventh. Andy Armstrong ’s bloop single scored Braxton Turner, and Enríquez delivered a game-tying RBI single to left. Sioux Falls briefly pulled ahead again in the eighth on Combs’ second homer of the night. But the Goldeyes refused to go quietly. Keshawn Lynch chopped an RBI single to score pinch-runner Jacob Robson and tie it 7-7. With the bases loaded, Enríquez hit a fielder’s choice that led to a dropped ball at second, allowing Lynch to cross the plate with the eventual winning run. Mitchell Lambson started for Winnipeg, allowing five runs on eight hits over five innings. The bullpen trio of Ryder Yakel , Ben Onyshko (W, 1-0), and Trevor Brigden (S, 2) combined to secure the win, with Brigden striking out two in the ninth for his second save. WINNIPEG, MB – The Sioux Falls Canaries (20-16) evened their series with the Winnipeg Goldeyes (16-19) Wednesday evening, using a nine-run fourth inning and five total home runs to secure a 15-2 win at Blue Cross Park. Boxscore The Canaries opened the scoring in the first inning after a dropped fly ball in left field allowed Mike Hart to score. The Goldeyes answered immediately in the bottom half of the frame, as Tanner O’Tremba delivered a two-run double to left-centre, scoring Ramón Bramasco and Roby Enríquez to briefly put Winnipeg ahead 2-1. Sioux Falls tied the game in the top of the second on a solo home run by Calvin Estrada, then took full control in the fourth inning. A sacrifice fly from Trevor Achenbach gave the Canaries a 3-2 lead before Hart followed with an RBI double. Jabari Henry then hit a three-run home run to deep centre field, followed on the very next pitch by a solo shot to right from Josh Rehwaldt. Matt Ruiz later capped the inning with a three-run home run of his own, making it 11-2. The Canaries added two more runs in the seventh on an RBI single from Rehwaldt and a fielder’s choice from Estrada.
