WINNIPEG, MB – Winnipeg Goldeyes’ shortstop Andrew Sohn has been named the American Association’s Batter of the Week for July 31st-August 6th.

In eight games last week, Sohn was 15-for-34 (.441) with 11 runs scored, two doubles, two home runs, four RBI, and three stolen bases. The Royal Oak, Michigan native hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning on Sunday to help the Goldeyes to a 9-7, series-clinching win at Gary SouthShore. Sohn is currently riding a career-high 16-game hitting streak.

Sohn enters Monday tied for first in the American Association in batting average (.342), first in runs scored (69), tied for fifth in stolen bases (24), tied for fifth in on-base percentage (.418), and ninth in slugging percentage (.514).

It marks the seventh league honour for the Winnipeg Goldeyes this season. Shawn Pleffner (May 18th-21st), Wes Darvill (May 22nd-28th), and Sohn (July 10th-16th) have all been named Batter of the Week.Kevin McGovern has twice been named Pitcher of the Week (May 29th-June 4th and June 26th-July 2nd), while David Bergin was named Batter of the Month for July.
