WINNIPEG, MB – Winnipeg Goldeyes’ left-handed pitcher Kevin McGovern has been named the American Association Pitcher of the Week for June 26th-July 2nd.

McGovern was 1-1 in two starts last week in which he did not allow an earned run over 15.0 innings pitched. On Tuesday versus Gary SouthShore, the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native pitched six innings without allowing an earned run, walking three and striking out three. On Sunday afternoon, McGovern helped the Goldeyes complete a three-game sweep of the Sioux Falls Canaries with a complete game, three-hit shutout. The 28-year-old walked two, struck out a season-high nine, and at one point retired 14 batters in a row. It was McGovern’s fourth career shutout and second of 2017. It was also McGovern’s seventh career complete game, as well as his fifth in a Goldeyes’ uniform over the last two years. McGovern entered Monday fourth in the American Association with a 2.53 ERA.

McGovern previously captured Pitcher of the Week honours for May 29th-June 4th.
