WINNIPEG, MB – Winnipeg Goldeyes outfielder Reggie Abercrombie has been named the American Association’s Batter of the Week for July 11th-17th.

It was an historic week for the former Major Leaguer.  On July 14th, Abercrombie hit a pair of solo home runs to break the American Association’s all-time record.  In six games last week, Abercrombie was 13-for-24 (.542) with 11 runs scored, five home runs, and nine RBI.  Since passing John Allen (87 home runs) for the American Association record on Thursday, Abercrombie has increased his record total to 90 long balls during his seven years in the league.  For the season, Abercrombie is batting .279 with 11 homers and 31 RBI.

The Goldeyes open a three-game series at Shaw Park tonight against the St. Paul Saints.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
