WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes signed catcher Dominic Blanco on Saturday.
Blanco is a career .259 hitter in 71 games over four professional seasons. The Naples, Florida native appeared in eight games earlier this year for the Atlantic League’s Long Island Ducks. Blanco was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 28th round out of Gulf Coast High School (Naples, Florida) in 2014. That same year, Blanco reached the High-A California League at the age of 18. A left-handed batter and right handed fielder, Blanco is a classified rookie in the American Association.
Blanco will make his Goldeyes’ debut tonight at catcher. The Goldeyes’ roster now stands at 22 players, including 11 pitchers and 11 position players.
The Goldeyes play game three of a four-game series at Gary SouthShore tonight at 6:10 p.m. All the action can be heard locally on 93.7 FM CJNU and worldwide at www.cjnu.ca beginning with Around the Association at 5:00 p.m. Tonight’s game broadcast will also be carried on 89.5 “The Lake” in Kenora, Ontario.
