WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (35-29) lost 7-2 to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at Shaw Park on Saturday evening.

In the top of the first inning, Devan Ahart drew a leadoff walk.  Two batters later, Josh Mazzola hit a two-run home run to left to drive in the game’s first runs.

With one out in the second, Joe DeLuca lined a solo home run to right.  It was DeLuca’s first career professional home run.  Yhoxian Medina and Ahart followed with back-to-back singles.  After Keury de la Cruz walked to load the bases, Mazzola lined a sacrifice fly to centre that scored Medina with the RedHawks’ fourth run.

David Bergin put the Goldeyes on the board with a two-out, solo home run to right-centre in the bottom of the second.

With two outs and no one on base in the third, Brandon Tierney doubled to left-centre.  After Tierney advanced to third on a wild pitch, De Luca walked to put runners on the corners.  Medina tripled to left-centre to stretch the RedHawks’ lead to 6-2.

RedHawks’ starting pitcher Tyler Herron (6-2) made the lead stand, holding the Goldeyes to one earned run on five hits over eight innings.  Herron walked two and struck out four while picking up the win.

Edwin Carl (6-3) took the loss, allowing six earned runs on nine hits in five innings.  Carl walked three and struck out five.

Mitchell Lambson worked two perfect innings in relief of Lambson over the sixth and seventh.  Lambson has allowed three earned runs over his last 26.0 innings.  Evan Rutckyj worked a perfect top of the eighth.

The RedHawks scored their final run in the ninth when Medina led off with a double and scored on a de la Cruz sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the ninth, Bergin doubled to left-centre with one out and scored on a 10-pitch, line drive single to right from Wes Darvill.
