SIOUX CITY, IA — In the continuation of Tuesday  night’s seven-inning suspended game, the Winnipeg Goldeyes (40-29) beat the Sioux City Explorers 5-4 at Lewis and Clark Park on Wednesday night.

The Goldeyes led 5-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Explorers trimmed the lead with a Eudor Garcia two-out, two-run double that made it 5-4.

Victor Capellan  converted the four-out save in relief.

In the Wednesday night’s scheduled game, the Winnipeg Goldeyes (40-29) beat the Sioux City Explorers 4-0 in a rain-shortened seven-inning game.

Goldeyes starter Edwin Carl (7-3, 3.95) earned the win and rain-shortened complete game shutout, allowing two hits, three walks and five strikeouts in six innings pitched.

Explorers starter Hobbs Johnson took the loss, allowing nine hits and four earned runs, walking one and striking out four in seven innings pitched.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Jordan Ebert and Andrew Sohn hit back-to-back singles, David Rohm hit a bunt single to load the bases, Josh Romanski hit an RBI fly ball to centre field that scored Ebert, Reggie Abercrombie hit an RBI infield single that scored Sohn, and after a passed ball by catcher Tyler Ogle that advanced the bases; David Bergin hit a two-out, two-run single to shallow-right field. That gave the Goldeyes a 4-0 lead.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes return home on Friday, August 11th when they host the Wichita Wingnuts at 7:05 p.m.
