WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes released their 2019 schedule on Wednesday.
The American Association will once again play under a continuous, 100-game schedule. The expansion Milwaukee Milkmen (Franklin, Wisconsin) are set to replace the Wichita Wingnuts, keeping the league at 12 members.
The league will also retain the two-division format introduced last year. The Goldeyes, Chicago Dogs, Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, Gary SouthShore RailCats, Milwaukee Milkmen, and St. Paul Saints comprise the American Association North. The Cleburne Railroaders, Kansas City T-Bones, Lincoln Saltdogs, Sioux City Explorers, Sioux Falls Canaries (formerly of the North), and Texas AirHogs form the American Association South.
The clubs with the top two winning percentages from each division qualify for the postseason.
2019 marks the Goldeyes’ 26th season, and begins May 16 on the road against the AirHogs. The Goldeyes’ 2019 home opener is scheduled for Friday, May 24 against the defending champion Kansas City T-Bones.
For a second consecutive year, each of the Goldeyes’ 11 league opponents visits Shaw Park for at least one series. Likewise, the Goldeyes will play at least one road series in every opposing ballpark, including brand new Routine Field in Milwaukee.
Winnipeg’s home schedule features seven Fridays (including the home opener), seven Saturdays, and seven Sundays. The Goldeyes also host three weekday matinee starts (11:05 AM first pitch) on May 30, June 4, and August 8.
Milwaukee makes its first ever visit to Winnipeg June 21-23. Additional home highlights include holiday dates on Canada Day (July 1 vs Fargo-Moorhead) and Labour Day (September 2 vs Sioux Falls). Long-time rivals St. Paul (July 4-8) and Fargo-Moorhead (July 1-3) each visit on two occasions.
The Goldeyes’ 2019 promotions schedule, complete list of start times for road games, as well as a full spring training schedule will be announced at later dates.
