ST. PAUL, MN – The Winnipeg Goldeyes lost 3-2 to the St. Paul Saints in Game Three of the American Association Division Series at CHS Field on Saturday night.

The Goldeyes trail the best-of-five series two games to one and must win Sunday’s Game Four to keep their season alive.

Saints’ shortstop/left fielder Tony Thomas led off the bottom of the ninth with a walk-off home run to left field.

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Saints scratched out two runs to tie the game.  Nate Hanson drew a leadoff walk and took second on a line drive single to centre from Angelo Songco.  After Vince DiFazio laid down a sacrifice bunt, Ryan Cavan drove in Hanson with a groundout to first.  Songco then scored the tying run on a two-out wild pitch.

The Goldeyes broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth when Josh Romanski lined a two-run single down the right field line with the bases loaded and one out.

Goldeyes’ starter Kevin McGovern took a no-decision, holding the Saints scoreless over seven innings on four hits.  McGovern walked six, struck out nine, and struck out the side in his final inning of work.

Ryan Rodebaugh (1-0) worked a perfect top of the ninth to earn the win.  Kyle Anderson (0-1) took the loss in relief for Winnipeg.

Saints’ starter Corey Williams also took a no-decision, allowing two runs, one earned, on nine hits in five innings.  Williams walked none and struck out four.

David Rohm had two more hits, and is now 8-for-12 in the series.

Game four of the American Association Division Series between the Winnipeg Goldeyes and St. Paul Saints is Sunday evening at 5:05 p.m.  Duke von Schamann (8-7, 4.87) will start for Winnipeg.  The Saints have not yet announced their starting pitcher.  All the action can be heard locally at 93.7 FM CJNU and worldwide at www.cjnu.ca
