WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes, in partnership with Quarks, Urban Trail, and Skechers donated nearly 1,000 pairs of shoes to Siloam Mission on Thursday as part of the inaugural “Quarks Cares” shoe donation program.

The “Quarks Cares” shoe donation program was introduced during home games at Shaw Park this past season in an effort to help the less fortunate.  Goldeyes fans were encouraged to donate new or gently used pairs of shoes as they entered the ballpark.  Albert Krahn, President and Doug Quark, Senior Vice President for The Quark Group were joined by Goldeyes’ general manager Andrew Collier in presenting Thursday’s donation.

“We are thrilled with the results of this new initiative, and grateful for the partnership of both The Quark Group and Siloam Mission in making it a success,” said Collier.  “Hats off to our great fans for their generosity and desire to help support the community.”

Siloam Mission is a humanitarian agency offering programs and services at no charge to those experiencing homelessness.  Siloam Mission alleviates the hardships of the poor and homeless, assists in transitioning them into self-sufficient and generous lifestyles, and advocates nationwide on their behalf.

“At The Quark Group, we believe that change begins with community, and that each individual can have an impact,” said Kristy Krahn , Director of Finance for The Quark Group.  “We have been inspired by the enthusiastic participation of the Winnipeg Goldeyes community in the Quarks Cares shoe donation program, and we are honoured to partner with Siloam Mission in their journey to create opportunities for positive change in our city.”

Quarks & Urban Trail offers a wide selection of Skechers footwear at eight locations in Winnipeg, and 35 locations across Western Canada.
