Prior to the 2016 season, second baseman Casio Grider and left-handed pitcher Kyle Anderson elected to play our their options and are now free agents.

In a separate transaction, the Goldeyes claimed right-handed pitcher Victor Ramirez off waivers from the Joplin Blasters on October 13th.  Ramirez was 2-0 with a 4.84 ERA in two starts and nine relief appearances for Joplin.  The Zulia, Venezuela native struck out 20 and walked six over 22.1 innings pitched.  Ramirez has a 1.68 ERA in five professional seasons and retains rookie classification in the American Association.  The 21-year-old signed with the Boston Red Sox as an international free agent in 2011 and also has experience in the Baltimore Orioles’ organization.  Ramirez’s 2017 player option had already been exercised by Joplin meaning the Goldeyes retain his 2017 rights.

The 2017 American Association schedule will be released next week.  For information on 2017 season tickets, 10-game mini packs, or group outings, call the Goldeyes’ office at (204) 982-BASE, or visit the Goldeyes’ official website at
