WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes announced their 2017 promotional schedule on Monday afternoon.

The Goldeyes’ 2017 home schedule consists of 50 dates at Shaw Park, beginning with the annual home opener on Monday, May 29th against the Sioux Falls Canaries.  Prior to the game, fans will witness the raising of the 2016 American Association championship banner.  All those in attendance receive a 2017 Goldeyes’ magnet schedule, courtesy of Pepsi and Boston Pizza.  After the game, fans will be treated to the first of seven fireworks spectaculars (full list of 2017 postgame fireworks shows listed below).

ALS Awareness Night is scheduled for Friday, June 2nd when the Goldeyes play host to the Lincoln Saltdogs.  Prior to the 7:05 p.m. first pitch, the ALS Society of Manitoba will host a re-enactment of the 1939 farewell address delivered by Lou Gherig, the Yankees’ legend who passed away from ALS at the age of 37.

Kub Bakery presents the annual Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame Game on Sunday, June 4th.  The Goldeyes will don commemorative Neepawa Farmers jerseys for the 1:00 p.m. contest.  The 1993-97 edition of the Farmers will be inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame in Morden that same weekend.  After the game, all youth fans in attendance are invited to run the bases on the Shaw Park infield.  “Kids Run the Bases” follows every Sunday home game in 2017, courtesy of Salisbury House.

School Patrol Night, presented by Manitoba Public Insurance, is Monday, June 12th when the Goldeyes open a series against the Texas AirHogs at 7:05 p.m.  All of the great young men and women who participated in Manitoba’s school patrol program are invited to the pre-game parade on the Shaw Park outfield.

Wednesday, June 14th is the first of three “Baseball Bingo” nights.  Upon entering Shaw Park, the first 3,000 fans in attendance receive a bingo card.  As different events unfold (such as a home run, stolen base, or strikeout) during that night’s game against the AirHogs, fans can begin filling in their bingo cards to win great prizes.  Fans can also enjoy Baseball Bingo on July 12th and August 12th.

Thursday, June 15th will be one of the highlights of the promotional calendar.  The first 1,000 fans in attendance for the 7:00 p.m. game receive a replica version of the Goldeyes’ 2016 championship ring, courtesy of ABC Fire & Safety.

For a third straight summer, you can bring your pooch out to the ballgame.  “Bark in the Park” returns Saturday, June 17th when the Goldeyes battle the St. Paul Saints, and fans are encouraged to bring along their furry friends.  Special ticket packages and registration information for “Bark in the Park” will be released at a later date.

Come celebrate Father’s Day at the ballpark on Sunday, June 18th.  The first 1,000 fans in attendance for the 1:00 p.m. start receive a Goldeyes’ baseball hat, courtesy of Boston Pizza.  After the game, fans are invited to play catch on the Shaw Park outfield.

The Goldeyes’ annual team photo giveaway is Tuesday, June 27th.  Prior to the 7:00 p.m. first pitch against the Gary SouthShore RailCats, fans can have their photos autographed by their favourite players on the Shaw Park outfield.

This year’s Ukrainian Celebration takes place Wednesday, June 28th against the RailCats.  Fans will enjoy various performances from Ukrainian groups throughout the night, including the Hoosli Ukrainian Men’s Chorus.  Ukrainian-themed food items will be available at select concession stands.

“Shirt Off Our Backs Night,” presented by Cambrian Credit Union, returns Thursday, June 29th in the series finale against Gary SouthShore.  Each inning, one lucky fan will win the jersey right off a Goldeyes’ player’s back.  After the game, everyone in attendance can enjoy an outstanding fireworks display.

Canada is celebrating its historic 150th birthday in 2017, and Shaw Park will take part in the festivities during Canada Day weekend.  On June 30th, the greatest Canadian baseball player, Fergie Jenkins, will be on hand to sign autographs as the Goldeyes host the Canaries, courtesy of VIA Rail Canada and their Canada 150 tour.  Fellow Hall of Fame pitcher Gaylord Perry will also be on hand to sign autographs.  The following late-afternoon (July 1st), the Goldeyes host their annual Canada Day game with a special 4:00 p.m. Saturday start time.

The Goldeyes celebrate another part of Winnipeg’s rich and diverse culture on Thursday, July 13th with “Soiree Francophone,” presented by Societe Franco Manitobaine.  The French language will be featured in public address announcements and video board graphics, including a pre-game French baseball “glossary.”  Throughout the night, fans will be treated to Francophone music and several prize giveaways from Franco Manitobaine merchants.

Fans looking to combine their favourite sport with an outdoor experience are invited to camp out on the Shaw Park outfield on Saturday, July 15th.  Following the 6:05 p.m. game against the Kansas City T-Bones, fans are invited to pitch their tents and stay the night while enjoying a movie on the video board.

On Sunday, July 16th, Goldie, the greatest mascot of them all, celebrates his birthday, courtesy of Commissionaires Manitoba.

The third annual Zombie Night is scheduled for Friday, July 28th when the Goldeyes face the rival Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.  Wear your best Zombie costume for a chance to win great prizes, and be sure to stay after the game to enjoy another great fireworks show.

On Saturday, July 29th, the Goldeyes celebrate another one of Winnipeg’s cultural communities with their first ever Korean Night.  Korean musical and martial arts performances will be on display with some great Korean-based merchants giving away prizes throughout the night.

The magnificent Goldette will be immortalized on Sunday, July 30th when the Goldeyes square off against the RedHawks.  The first 1,000 fans in attendance for the 1:00 p.m. game receive a Goldette bobblehead.

The first 4,000 fans through the gates on Sunday, August 13th receive a special Goldeyes’ bookmark, courtesy of the Winnipeg Public Library as part of their summer reading program.

The Goldeyes’ annual “Country Night” is scheduled for Tuesday, August 15th against the Saints.  Strap on your kicks and wear your best country duds, while enjoying some great country music, courtesy of QX-104 FM.

Fans are encouraged to do their part for the environment in conjunction with Multi-Material Stewardship Manitoba on Wednesday, August 16th by bringing any plastic shopping bags to the ballpark for recycling.

Hockey Night returns Tuesday, August 22nd, courtesy of The Pint and 92 CITI.  Not only will the Goldeyes wear hockey-styled jerseys, but this year’s “sweater” celebrates the 40th anniversary of the classic film “Slap Shot.”  The 7:05 p.m. start against Fargo-Moorhead will be capped off with a postgame fireworks show.

When the Goldeyes host the Sioux City Explorers on Wednesday, August 23rd, one lucky fan will win a trip to Jamaica, including airfare and accommodations, courtesy of Air Canada Vacations.  The following night, the Goldeyes return to their roots with Turn Back the Clock Night.  In addition to wearing classic Goldeyes’ uniforms, fans will enjoy nostalgic music from the golden age of radio, courtesy of 93.7 FM CJNU.

The third annual “Bacon Night,” presented by Manitoba Pork is Friday, August 25th against Sioux City.  The Goldeyes will celebrate all things bacon with special bacon-themed jerseys, as well as a variety of great bacon- and pork-related food items.

As the Goldeyes look to fortify their playoff position, there will be plenty of excitement at Shaw Park during the final weekend of the season, courtesy of Casinos of Winnipeg.  The Goldeyes open what could be a crucial four-game series against the RedHawks on Friday, September 1st, and the first 500 fans in attendance receive a set of 2017 Goldeyes baseball cards.

On Sunday, September 3rd, all in attendance receive the Goldeyes’ second half team photo, which they can once again have autographed on the field prior to the 1:05 p.m. first pitch.

The 2017 regular season concludes Monday, September 4th with a 1:05 p.m. first pitch against the RedHawks.  The Goldeyes will host their annual Fan Appreciation Day with great prizes awarded to fans throughout the afternoon.
